GROUND ACCESS

CPD Yr Wyddgrug’s new home ground of the Northop Hall Pavilion is situated on the northern outskirts of the village of Northop Hall and next to the village’s primary school, just under five miles away from their base of Mold. The ground is located at the end of Llyn Ben, which connects to the main B5125 road which runs through the village, and it has a small area for car parking in front of the pavilion, although on-road parking is also available if required.

To get to Northop Hall by public transport, it would be best to either arrive at either Flint or Chester train stations, and then travel to Mold bus station. From there, you can get the 8 (Sealand Manor to Mold) P&O Lloyd bus service to Northop Hall, either stopping at the Boar’s Head Inn/Top Monkey bus stop or the old Black Lion bus stop in the village. It is then just a five-minute walk from the bus stations to the ground. The nearest pub to the ground is the Top Monkey, which is next to the former bus stop, although there is a larger choice of pubs and restaurants in Mold for any pre or post-match drinks.

BRIEF HISTORY

CPD Yr Wyddgrug is a brand new Flintshire club that will be making its debut in the 2023-24 season. Named after the Cymraeg name for Mold, the club will start its history in the North East Wales League Championship, the fifth tier of Welsh football. The club developed from 5-a-side football to join senior football in 2023, and brings with it a unique ethos of promoting the usage of Cymraeg both inside and outside of the club. This is due to the majority of the squad attending Ysgol Maes Garmon, and thus growing up speaking Cymraeg, something which was mentioned in the club’s interview with The Leader.

Despite its name, for the 2023-24 season, the club won’t be playing in Mold but playing in the nearby village of Northop Hall and specifically at the Northop Hall Pavilion, home of the Northop Hall Ladies team (and former home of both Flint Mountain and Sychdyn).
