GROUND ACCESS

AFC Deeside‘s football ground is part of the Mold Leisure Centre – Mold Alun School complex situated in the south of the county town. The entrance to the campus is found on the B5444 Wrexham Road, which can be accessed either by going through the centre of Mold itself or via the A494 Mold Bypass, and is halfway down the road from either direction. Follow the narrow road from the campus entrance, and the ground is found towards the back of the complex.

There are a couple of large car parks near the entrance of the leisure centre complex, with a few smaller car parks along the narrow road. Some hot drinks and snacks are available within the leisure centre building itself, although there will be none available at the football pitch itself.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

By Train

Please note that it can be a bit awkward to reach Mold via public transport. The nearest train stations to Mold are either Flint on the North Wales Coastline or Buckley on the Borderlands Line, and a taxi would be the best option to Mold from either station. However, in terms of buses, the best option would be to go from Chester station, as there are regular bus routes between Chester and Mold, although these bus journeys are naturally longer.

By Bus

If you are coming from Chester train station, it would be advisable to take the Arriva-run Number 4/4S (Chester to Mold) service to Mold bus station. The ground is then just a 10 to 15-minute walk away from the bus station. From the bus station, head towards Mold’s main crossroads and then turn left down the Wrexham Street B5444 road. Follow the road down for approximately 10 minutes, and the entrance to the Leisure Centre / Mold Alun School will be on the right. Alternatively, from Mold bus station, you could pick up the Arriva-run Number 27 (Mold to Wrexham) service to the Mold Campus bus stop, which is the nearest stop to the leisure centre’s entrance.

Despite the close proximity to Flint train station, public transport between Flint and Mold is surprisingly sparse, although there is the 28 (Flint to Mold) Townlynx bus route that connects the two towns on an hourly basis. From Mold’s bus station, you then have the option to either walk to the ground or take the #27 route to the Mold Campus bus stop.

NEARBY PUBS

The nearest pubs to the Mold Leisure Centre ground are located in Mold’s town centre. Mold has a vast number of pubs and restaurants in the town’s high street to cover all tastes, as well as having more specialised bars. Some fine examples are the Y Delyn Wine Bar on King Street, which also serves tapas along with multiple wines, whilst there is the multiple CAMRA Award-winning Mold Alehouse, a short distance away from Y Delyn on Earl Road, which specialises in locally brewed craft ales and ciders. Y Pentan (on the A5119 New Street road) is a more traditional pub but has historical links to local author Daniel Owen, whilst the town also has its own Wetherspoons – The Gold Cape on the B544 Wrexham Street road.
