GROUND ACCESS
Maes Bodlonfa (or ‘The Rec’) is situated near the centre of Mold, with the football pitch just past the bowling green and playground there. It is a public field so be prepared for it to be basic facilities, with no snack bar available. On-road car parking is available beside the field, although paid car parking is plentiful in Mold also.
Please note that it can be a bit awkward to reach Mold via public transport, especially from Flint station, although Bus Route 28 does travel between Flint and Mold. However there are X4 direct bus routes to Mold which pick up from Chester train station, which is a more direct route. The field is just about a 10 minute walk away from the bus station, with the nearest pub being the Ruthin Castle. However Mold does have many excellent and various pubs within town should you wish to explore before or after the game.
BRIEF HISTORY
Football has been played in Mold since it was first established in Wales, with a Mold-based team competing in the second edition of the Welsh Cup competition way back in 1878-79, and also reaching the semi-finals on two occasions. However Mold Town United are a relatively new club for the town, having been created in 2013.
For the club’s short history, they have continually competed in the fifth-tiered North East Wales League. Their best league finish has been finishing in third position in the league on two separate occasions in the 2015-16 and 2018-19 seasons.
